Chicago's famous lakefront, world-class parks and dense transit network make it one of the more restroom-friendly major cities in the United States — if you know the system.

Millennium Park and Grant Park

Millennium Park has multiple restroom buildings open year-round. The Crown Fountain area and the parking garage level beneath the park both have accessible facilities. Grant Park has comfort stations near Buckingham Fountain, open seasonally.

Chicago Park District

The Chicago Park District operates comfort stations throughout its 600+ parks. Lincoln Park, Jackson Park, Douglas Park and most major parks have facilities. The Park District website lists locations by park.

Chicago Public Library

The Harold Washington Library Center downtown and all 80 Chicago Public Library branches are open to the public including restroom access during operating hours.

The Riverwalk

The Chicago Riverwalk has public restroom facilities at intervals along its length, making it a good reference point if you are walking along the river in the Loop or West Loop.

Tip: Navy Pier has multiple public restroom buildings and is rarely more than a 20-minute walk or short bus ride from the Loop. It is open most of the year.

Transit

Union Station and Ogilvie Transportation Center both have public restrooms. CTA rail stations generally do not have public facilities, so plan around the transit hubs or nearby businesses.

Museums

The Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry and Shedd Aquarium all have accessible restrooms. Most allow restroom access to the public even before purchasing a ticket.
